A NEW LUG IN ARIZONA

After 13 months of hosting a Ubuntu Hour in Sierra Vista and discovering the previous existence of a now defunct Linux User Group, I joined with two other Linux users and members of AZLOCO to attempt to bring the Cochise Linux User Group (CLUG) back to life.

After 13 months of hosting a Ubuntu Hour in Sierra Vista and discovering the previous existence of a now defunct Linux User Group, I joined with two other Linux users and members of AZLOCO to attempt to bring the Cochise Linux User Group (CLUG) back to life. After an initial organization meeting in August where some guidelines were set up, we had our first meeting in September with an unexpected turnout of 14 people. There was a presentation on “Introduction to Linux”. We intend to meet once a month to provide a platform where Linux users can talk to other Linux users, Linux users can go to hear presentations from other members and outside vendors about Free and Open Source Software, and Linux users can have a place to increase their education to enable them to obtain a better job or increase the efficiency of their own organization. Meetings will held on the second Wednesday of each month (except for October and November when it will be the third Wednesday) at 5 pm. at the University of Arizona, Sierra Vista campus, room C165A North. The next meeting will be on 21 October and the presentation will be “Terminal for Beginners”. All are invited to attend.
